Obasi John

Obasi John is the southwest zonal coordinator for the Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative (GECCI)


John is a community evangelist in Nigeria. He is an SDGs advocate and climate activist during his service year in Lagos state as a Corps member, he executed a personal project under the Sdgs CDs group, which attracted the Lagos State Governor honor award his experience spans from environmental practices, business development, and capacity building.


John has experience in innovational projects that build leadership and increase awareness for youths to catalyze African development and social challenges.


John is a famous promoter of global cooperation with years of experience in youth engagement and social programs for development, human rights, peace, and nonviolence. He has a strong focus on youth empowerment and Gender equality. He is also a member of the International Organization of the United Nations.


Obasi implemented a project in Ansar-ru-deen Primary School, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos titled *Crop Production in Primary Schools; a panacea to food security in Lagos State, Nigeria. The PROJECT THEME: was "CATCH THEM YOUNG* " which over 600 pupils benefit from in line to achieve SDGs 2,4,5,13 &17, the objectives of the project were:


  • Inclusion of the public primary school pupils to enhance food supply.

  • Plant, harvest, and sell.

  • Proceeds from the sales shall be used for Instructional materials and also to improve the infrastructure and facilities of the schools.


Obasi John has organized a series of online and in-person workshops on SDGs and climate change with over 1,500 participants in attendance, including government officials in Nigeria. His activities also span across the 36 states in Nigeria, where he led a campaign on clean up exercise in Lagos, Oyo, Abia, and Imo State in Nigeria with 200 volunteers to achieve the above. Obasi is tackling environmental crises and providing solutions to climate change through his Grassroots advocacy here in Nigeria.


In furtherance, Obási is currently working on a project on drilling of clean water in Nigeria to tackle the water challenges, especially in the local community where they can't afford clean water for drinking. "why do they need clean water " Health is wealth through this project it will create an enabling environment for the community members to have a healthy living and as well reduce the rate of sickness in the communities in other to reduce the death rate.


John is very industrious, knowledgeable, and skillful, with a great sense of responsibility.
